Cleveland Indians @ Houston Astros
Monday, May 9th, 8:10pm ET, Minute Maid Park
The Cleveland Indians send Corey Kluber out to battle the Houston Astros tonight. Last time around Kluber dominated the Tigers, hurling a complete game shutout in 111 pitches. While there's not much room for improvement, Kluber has a great shot to do it against the Astros. He's 4-1 with a 1.58 ERA in his previous matchups against Houston, one of which came in his past life as a reliever.
Mike Fiers pitches tonight for Houston, hoping to improve on his 5.35 ERA. I assume that he's hoping to improve, but maybe like Doug in accounting he's just given up on his career and is only going through the motions. For his sake, I hope he's still putting in his best effort. The Indians' offense is smoking, scoring 29 runs in their last six games. Actually, those runs game in just five games; the Royals shut out the Tribe on Saturday.
The other match-up to keep an eye on during the series involves the two most promising shortstops in the game. Perhaps we can come a step closer to determining whether Francisco Lindor or Carlos Correa is better by the end of the series. Well, we know the answer, but maybe Lindor can convince everyone else.
