Thanks to two 3-run innings yesterday, the Baltimore Orioles took game 1 from the Cleveland Indians by a score of 6-4. It wasn't an ideal start to the long home stand, but Danny Salazar looks to right the ship today as he takes the mound against a very strikeout-prone team. The Dzar has been absolutely dominant for the Tribe this season, coming into the game with a minuscule ERA of 2.32 and an equally impressive FIP of 2.83 (good for an ERA+ of 189). So far, in 54.1 innings of work, Danny has given up 14 runs along with 26 walks and 67 strikeouts, which is the 13th most in all of MLB. The Orioles are tied for 5th in the AL in terms of striking out (as a team, they hold a 22.7% K%). You know what to do, Danny.
For the Orioles, our good friend Ubaldo Jimenez gets the start against his former ballclub. The 2016 season has not been kind to Ubaldo, as he comes into today's game carrying a 6.04 ERA, but a better FIP of 4.35 (good for an ERA+ of 70). So far, in 50.2 innings of work, Ubaldo has given up 34 earned runs along with 27 walks and 44 strikeouts. Tribe fans will be hoping that they won't get post-2013 ASG Ubaldo today, or else it could be another long day.
On the offensive side of things, Yan Gomes is back in the lineup in place of Chris Gimenez. Here's to hoping that a game against a struggling pitcher can help Yan get back on track. And now, here's the starting 9 for your Tribe:
