The Cleveland Indians won their fifth straight last night thanks to a solid outing by Corey Kluber and a timely home run by Jason Kipnis. Today, the Tribe looks to win their sixth game in a row in game 2 against the Boston Red Sox. On the hill for the Tribe today is Trevor Bauer, who pitched well in his last start against the Minnesota Twins (6.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 8 K). Another good outing by Bauer will go a long way in terms of solidifying his spot in the rotation going forward.
The Red Sox counter with RHP Joe Kelly, who is making his first start since April 19th. Kelly left his last start early with a right shoulder impingement, and he has just now been activated from the DL to make his way back into the rotation. On the season, he is currently 1-0 with a 9.35 ERA and a FIP of 7.36 (ERA+ of 49) in just 8.2 innings of work. Historically, he has done well against the Cleveland Indians, having only allowed 1 run in 11 innings of work.
On the offensive side of things, Gomes gets the day off as Chris Gimenez, who may be turning into Bauer's personal catcher, takes over behind the plate. Hey, whatever works, right? Nap also gets a partial day off as he is slotted into the lineup as the DH, while Santana takes over at 1B. And now, here's the starting 9 for your Tribe:
