If the rain holds off, the Indians and Red Sox will play in much more favorable circumstances than yesterday's frigid opener: the game time temperature should be in the mid-50s.

Clay Buchholz will be making his first MLB appearance since last July; he missed the second half of last season with an elbow injury. When he was healthy in 2015 he was very effective (2.68 FIP overall, even better after April), but only ended up throwing 113.1 innings, the third time in five years that he hadn't thrown more than 120 innings.

The Indians counter with Carlos Carrasco, who is coming off his best season, and (not coincidentally) his first 30-start season in the big-leagues.

Today's Lineups

Mookie Betts - RF Francisco Lindor - SS
Dustin Pedroia - 2B Jose Ramirez - LF
Xander Bogaerts - SS Jason Kipnis - 2B
David Ortiz - DH Mike Napoli - 1B

Travis Shaw - 3B Yan Gomes - C
Brock Holt - LF Marlon Byrd - RF
Blake Swihart - C Juan Uribe - 3B
Jackie Bradley - CF Tyler Naquin - CF
Clay Buchholz - RHP Carlos Carrasco - RHP

Tyler Naquin will make his first MLB start, and he'll have his work cut out for him, as he'll be flanked by Jose Ramirez and Marlon Byrd.
