This Saturday, the Cleveland Indians Class-A affiliates, the Lake County Captains, will be giving away free tickets to anyone who 'roasts' them for National Honesty Day. Any fan who tweets using the hashtag #CaptainsRoast can walk up to the ticket window on Saturday and receive a free ticket to the game.
Here at the Captains, we value the opinions of all of our fans, whether they're positive or negative, and we always want your feedback…— Lake County Captains (@LCCaptains) April 27, 2016
Every account that uses #CaptainsRoast can walk up to a box office window Saturday, show us your tweet, and get one free ticket to the game.— Lake County Captains (@LCCaptains) April 27, 2016
For those unaware of what a roast is, they are generally good-natured ribbings put on by higher levels of organizations to allow employees (or in the Captains' case, fans) to take shots at those in authority. Comedy Central ran several of them years ago that featured Donald Trump and Pamela Anderson among many others, but my personal favorite roastings -- which also happens to be a terrible example of how a roast works -- is from The Office.
So, do you want a free ticket to a Lake County Captains game? Roast them on Twitter, use the hashtag, and you're in. The best will be read during the game by the team's stadium voice or an on-field host. They will also be running honesty-themed promotions throughout the game.
The Captains currently sport the best record in the Midwest League at 13-6. They are lead, offensively, by catching prospect Francisco Mejia who leads the team in OPS (.939), doubles (6), RBI (15) and is second in hits (22).
