Michael Brantley to make first Cleveland Indians start of 2016 tonight against Twins

Welcome back, Smooth.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Indians released their lineups for tonight's 8:10 p.m. matchup against the Minnesota Twins and there are a few things to be excited about. First and foremost, Michael Brantley is back!

This will not be Brantley's first at-bat of the season -- he officially debuted last night with a lineout in a pinch-hit appearance -- but it is his first start since September 28 when he was shut down with what was thought then to be minor shoulder injury. As we know now, that turned out to be a torn labrum that required surgery and 5-6 months of recovery. Well, here we are five months later and our boy is back.

Brantley has been rehabbing in the minors between the Akron RubberDucks and Columbus Clippers to start 2016. He was just 5-for-25 in those rehab starts, but the most important thing was to see Brantley play in back-to-back games, which he did last weekend with the Clippers. Brantley may not immediately start every day upon his return, but at least he will be playing frequently from here on out.

The other good thing about this lineup is Carlos Santana back in the leadoff spot. He was tried out there this weekend when the Tribe swept the Detroit Tigers, but Rajai Davis was moved back to the No. 1 slot in yesterday's loss.
