It is Kids Run the Bases day at Progressive Field this afternoon, which is surely more important than a Corey Kluber start.
Kluber is 0-2 with a 3.85 ERA, and faces off against Steven Matz, who is 0-1 with...wow. I will not list Matz's ERA. If you're a little bummed about Kluber's first couple of starts, just be happy that he didn't give up seven runs in 1 2/3 innings to the Miami Marlins.
The Indians' bats looked excellent yesterday as they pummeled Matt Harvey in the fifth and sixth inning yesterday. Santana walked and notched his first steal of the year in the fifth, which broke open game for the rest of the Tribe. Harvey had a perfect game going up until that point. Then, Jose Ramirez doubled, Juan Uribe singled, and Harvey couldn't find his rhythm again. Sure, Bryan Shaw nearly gave it all away in the eighth, but the point is that the bats have looked quite good lately. Kipnis is 5-9 with three doubles and two RBI in the series, while Mike Napoli nurses an eight game hitting streak.
My prediction for today's game? Kluber reaches the double-digits in strikeouts, and the offense scores exactly one run more than that total. #RunSupport.
Do the thing today, gentleman. DO IT.
