Jose Ramirez continues his hot hitting for Cleveland Indians this spring

Morning news & notes for Wednesday, March 9, 2016.

Not much happened yesterday. The Indians won, though! Performances of note include 2 more hits for Jose Ramirez, three 1-hit innings pitched by Trevor Bauer and a 1-2-3 inning thrown by Tom Gorzelanny. The LHRP candidates haven't been overly impressive this spring, so keep an eye on Gorzelanny. Free agent right handed power batz Mike Napoli and Juan Uribe also had solid games.

Indians News

• Jose Ramirez is now 5-for-14 with 4 RBI this spring.

• Indians GM Mike Chernoff (that's strange to type) answered some fan questions on reddit yesterday.

• There will be an assortment of new food options available at Progressive Field this season. I'll stick with hot dogs though.

Around Baseball

• The Braves signed Phil Coke. They'll take anyone.

• The Padres are interested in LGFCY Tim Lincecum.

• Former Babe-esque slugger Micah Owings is attempting a comeback. He threw for teams recently. No word on whether he can still OPS 1.000, though it's easy to assume not.
