Elimination is going to happen; the only question is whether it will happen tonight or perhaps tomorrow.

At the start of this week, both the Twins and Indians were still in contention for a playoff spot. After Game 1, the Twins are still very much in the Wild Card hunt (1 game behind the Angels as I type this), while the Indians are basically eliminated. The "elimination number" for the Indians is 1, meaning any Cleveland loss or any win by the Wild Card leader means that they are eliminated from the postseason. Whatever effect the Indians have on the postseason is now limited to the damage they can do to the Twins' hopes.

Cody Anderson will make his final start for the Indians in Game 2, and will try to end a magical debut season on a high note.
