The Indians have all but forced their fans to accept that the postseason isn't happening this season. That the postseason was still at all in play with two weeks left in the season and the team incapable of climbing above .500 was pretty bizarre, and I did most of my mourning for this team way back in June and July. There's plenty to make you optimistic for 2016 though, if you're the sort who allows yourself to feel such a thing.

At this point the Tribe is playing the rest of the way for a winning record, and for the chance to spoil Minnesota's chances at making the Wild Card Game, and maybe Kansas City's chance to finish with the American League's best record. None of that is a trip to the postseason, but a winning record and wrecking your rivals are worthy goals of their own.

Today's Lineups

CLEVELAND INDIANS MINNESOTA TWINS
Jason Kipnis - 2B Aaron Hicks - CF
Jose Ramirez - 3B Brian Dozier - 2B
Francisco Lindor - SS Joe Mauer - 1B
Carlos Santana - DH Miguel Sano - DH
Yan Gomes - C Trevor Plouffe - 3B
Lonnie Chisenhall - RF Eddie Rosario - LF
Chris Johnson - 1B Torii Hunter - RF
Abraham Almonte - CF Kurt Suzuki - C
Mike Aviles - LF Eduardo Escobar - SS
Cody Anderson - RHP Kyle Gibson - RHP

I wouldn't call that my dream lineup for the Indians, but I suppose it could be worse.
