A look at recent Cleveland Indians trades with all 29 other MLB teams

With the July 31 trade deadline just passed, the Tribe made a few minor moves (Murphy, Rzepczynski and Moss) but nothing of huge significance. But the deal with the Cardinals for Moss seemed eerily familiar.

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Indians, for the third year in a row (and on July 30 each year!) made a deal with the St. Louis Cardinals. This time acquiring pitching prospect Rob Kaminsky in exchange for Brandon Moss. (They also dealt David Murphy to the Angels and Mark Rzepczynski to the Padres.)

Chris Antonetti appears to have John Mozeliak on speed dial. But who else does the Tribe like dealing with? Let's review recent deals with each other team...

NL Central

St. Louis Cardinals

As noted, each of the past three years, the Tribe has made a July deadline deal. And the two teams have made seven deadline deals in the past decade with Corey Kluber and Chris Perez being the biggest names received.

Pittsburgh Pirates

The last transaction was when Justin Sellers was sold last October. But last summer, the Indians did deal for Chris Dickerson for cash considerations. The last player for player trade was when Jeanmar Gomez was traded for Quincy Latimore in January 2013. The last non end of the 40-man transaction was probably in December 2004 when Matt Lawton was traded for Arthur Rhodes.

Cincinnati Reds

The last deal the Reds were involved in was the Shin-Soo Choo, Tony Sipp, Travor Bauer trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks that also netted Bryan Shaw, Matt Albers and Drew Stubbs back in December 2012.

Chicago Cubs

The Indians traded for Kosuke Fukudome July 2011 in exchange for Abner Abreu and Carlton Smith.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers did purchase Jordon Brown in May 2011, but the last deal between the clubs was the huge CC Sabathia deal that netted Matt LaPorta, Zach Jackson, Rob Bryson and PTBNL Michael Brantley.

NL West

Los Angeles Dodgers

In April 2014, the Dodgers sent Colt Hynes for Duke von Schamann. The one prior to that was the Casey Blake for Carlos Santana and Jon Meloan deal in July 2008.

San Francisco Giants

The last deal here was in July 2011 when Orlando Cabrera was sent for Thomas Neal.

San Diego Padres

Before the Rzepczynski deal, the last trade was when Cory Burns was sent west for Aaron Cunningham in December 2011.

Colorado Rockies

In December 2013, Drew Stubbs was sent to Colorado for Josh Outman.

Arizona Diamondbacks

The Indians bought Charles Brewer from them in November 2014, but the last deal was the Jason Kubel trade for Matt Langwell in August 2013.

NL East

Washington Nationals

Last August, Asdrubal Cabrera was traded for Zach Walters. But prior to that, the last deal was back in August 2004, when they were still the Expos, and Jeriome Robertson was traded for Pierre-Luc Marceau.

New York Mets

The Indians sold Wilson Valdez to the Mets in May 2009, but the last actual trade was the three team deal in December 2008 when Cleveland sent Franklin Gutierrez to Seattle and netted Luis Valbuena from the Mariners and Joe Smith from the Mets.

Atlanta Braves

The last transaction was in March 2012 when Jairo Asencio was purchased from the Braves. But the last trade was October 2011 when Derek Lowe was acquired for Chris Jones. Before that, you have to go back to 2006 when Bob wickman was sent out for Max Ramirez.

Miami Marlins

There have only been two trades ever between these two. In March 2000, the Tribe sent Steve Falteisek to get minor leaguer Victor Rodriguez. The other deal was in April 1994 when Cleveland sent Jeremy Hernandez to them for Matt Turner.

Philadelphia Phillies

In June 2013, the Indians sent John McDonald for cash considerations, but the last real trade was the blockbuster Cliff Lee deal in July 2009 where the Tribe netted Carlos Carrasco, Lou Marson, Jason Donald, and Jason Knapp for Lee and Ben Francisco.

AL East

New York Yankees

Last August, the Indians sent Josh Outman to them for cash, but the last trade was when Kerry Wood was dealt in July 2010 for Andrew Shive and Matt Cusick. The day before that was the Austin Kearns for Zach McAllister deal.

Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles purchased Scott Barnes last November. The last trade was when Preston Guilmet was traded for Torsten Boss in April 2014.

Toronto Blue Jays

The infamous Esmil Rogers for Mike Aviles and Yan Gomes was consummated in November 2012.

Tampa Bay Rays

The Tribe bought Russ Canzler in January 2012. But the last trade was in December 2009 when Kelly Shoppach was traded for Mitch Talbot.

Boston Red Sox

The last trade was in July 2012 when Lars Anderson was picked up for Stephen Wright.

AL West

Houston Astros

There hasn't been a deal between these franchises since March 2004 when Cleveland traded Luke Scott for Jeriome Robertson.

Los Angeles Anaheim Angels

Before the Murphy deal, the Indians bough J.B. Shuck last September. But in August last year, they also traded Vinnie Pestano for Michael Clevinger.

Texas Rangers

The Indians traded for Chris Gimenez for cash considerations in August 2014, but the last trade was when Max Ramirez was traded in in July 2007 for Kenny Lofton.

Seattle Mariners

After all of the deals between these teams in the 00s, there have been just two minor transactions this decade. The last was when Aaron Laffey was sent west for Matt Lawson in 2011.

Oakland A's

The last deal was the Brandon Moss/Joey Wendle trade last November. But before that, the last trade Billy Beane made with the Tribe was picking up Kazuhito Tadano for  Ramon Alvarez in April 2006. I'm guessing Cleveland doesn't like dealing with Oakland since the ill fated Ricardo Rincon for Marshall McDougall deal in 2002.

AL Central

Kansas City Royals

The last deal between these division rivals was way back in June 2004 when the Indians sent Matt White in a conditional deal. The last proper trade was in August 2003 when Cleveland sent Brian Anderson to KC for Trey Dyson and Kieran Mattison.

Minnesota Twins

Besides buying Jim Thome for his swan song in 2011, the last trade these two made was in August 2009, when Carl Pavano was traded for Yohan Pino.

Detroit Tigers

The last trade these two made was the Jhonny Peralta was traded in July 2010 for Giovanni Soto.

Chicago White Sox

There has been just one transaction in the last decade between these two franchises, and that was when the Indians sold Andy Cannizaro to them in August 2009. Before that, you have to go all the way back to March 1994, when the Sox sent Matt Merullo to the Tribe for Ken Ramos.
