Jason Kipnis activated from disabled list

Now, it's spiders who aren't a fan of the 2015 Indians. Get in line, dudes.

• Jason Kipnis was activated from the DL yesterday and Chris Johnson took his place on the list. Johnson is still dealing with the effects of an insect bite. Kipnis will probably not need offseason surgery.

• Danny Salazar says better focus is behind his recent string of awesomely-pitched baseball games. That, and a vastly improved 2-seamer.

• According to Tom hamilton on the radio last night, the Indians will open the 2016 season with home games against Boston.

• Jose Ramirez singled in the 6th yesterday to turn his 0-for-21 slump into a 1-for-22 slump.

• On Sunday, Ryan Webb finished his 97th MLB game. Which is a record for somebody with 0 career saves. Fun article.

Around MLB

• The Red Sox hired Dave Dombrowski to run their baseball operations. Current GM Ben Cherington stepped down from his role.

• This list of the top 10 MLB players on last place teams has Corey Kluber way, way too low. Behind Xander Bogaerts? Lolololol.

• A trade!

Rookie shortstop Francisco Lindor and third baseman Giovanny Urshela have been with the Indians for barely more than two months, but both have made a significant impact defensively.
Defensive metrics are not entirely trustworthy, but it’s telling that Lindor ranks sixth in the majors at short in defensive runs saved despite spending April, May and part of June in the minors, while Urshela ranks 14th at third.
Lindor … OPS from .539 in June to .772 in July to .825 in August.
