The Indians knocked the Twins below .500 over the weekend, and could have the chance to knock the Yankees out of 1st place this week. New York had a big lead not long ago, but the Blue Jays have cut it down to just 1.5 games. I for one would be happy to see Canada celebrate a division title, and hope the Tribe can help them get there.

Today's Lineups

NEW YORK YANKEES CLEVELAND INDIANS
Jacoby Ellsbury - CF Jose Ramirez - 2B
Brett Gardner - LF Francisco Lindor - SS
Alex Rodriguez - DH Michael Brantley - LF
Mark Teixeira - 1B Carlos Santana - DH
Brian McCann - C Yan Gomes - C
Carlos Beltran - RF Abraham Almonte - CF
Didi Gregorius - SS Chris Johnson - 1B
Stephen Drew - 2B Lonnie Chisenhall - RF
Brendan Ryan - 3B Giovanny Urshela - 3B
Luis Severino - RHP Carlos Carrasco - RHP

Carrasco has been better on the road than at Progressive this season, though since we're talking about 11 starts in each instance, I'm not sure you should read anything significant into that.

In any event, Carrasco pitched 9 innings in each of his last two starts. The last Tribe starter to go 9 in three consecutive starts was Greg Swindell, way back in June of 1991. The first two hitters in the Indians lineup tonight weren't even born then. Seeing Carlos pull it off tonight would be excellent, but I'd settle for 2 runs in 7 innings.

The Tribe has been terrible in series openers this year, especially at home. Hopefully that trend gets reversed tonight.
