Cleveland Indians vs. Cincinnati Reds — the rubber game

This is very likely Johnny Cueto's final game for the Reds at the Great American Ball Park. Can Carlos Carrasco and the Tribe send him off with a rare defeat?

After last night's terrific all-around performance, the Tribe turns to Carlos Carrasco for the series decider this afternoon. The 28yo is enjoying easily the best season of his career, holding a superb 2.7 fWAR after 18 games. In three of his last four starts Carrasco has gone at least 7 IP, marred only by a poor outing against the Astros back on 6 July.

With the trade deadline less than a fortnight away, the 29yo Johnny Cueto is almost certainly the hottest talent available for any contending team looking to upgrade their rotation. He has recorded over 4.5 fWAR in two of the past three seasons and is well on track to surpass that this year with 2.7 fWAR (the same as Carrasco) after 17 games. This is very likely his last game in a Reds' uniform at the Great American Ball Park, and he is going to be a very tough nut to crack.

Today's Lineups

Jason Kipnis - 2B Brandon Phillips - 2B
Francisco Lindor - SS Ivan De Jesus - 3B
Michael Brantley - LF Joey Votto - 1B
Carlos Santana - 1B Jay Bruce - RF
David Murphy - RF Brayan Pena - C
Mike Aviles - 3B Marlon Byrd - LF
Michael Bourn - CF Eugenio Suarez - SS
Roberto Perez - C Johnny Cueto - RHP
Carlos Carrasco - RHP Billy Hamilton - CF

There are several lineup changes today: Mike Aviles replaces Giovanny Urshela at 3B, David Murphy is playing RF instead of Brandon Moss and Roberto Perez is behind the plate (as is fairly common for a day game following a night game). For the Reds, Home Derby winner Todd Frazier is rested at 3B in favor of Ivan De Jesus.
