Indians prospect Bradley Zimmer has been named to the Team USA roster for the 2015 MLB Futures Game, which will take place next month at Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park.
Zimmer just started for the Carolina League All-Star team Tuesday night, and has been playing incredible baseball for the High-A Lynchburg Hillcats this year. His current batting line is .300/.399/.488, and includes 24 extra-base hits (9 HR) in 240 at bats. he is also 28 for 32 in stolen base attempts. He leads the Carolina in runs scored and stolen bases, and is among the top five in hits, home runs, walks, and OPS. I expect him to be promoted to Double-A Akron in the very near future, because he's clearly ready for new challenges.
Zimmer looks like he could be ready to join the Indians in April of 2017, just as a couple veteran outfielders create openings in the starting lineup.
