Cleveland Indians hope to slow down Texas Rangers and the red-hot Prince Fielder

Is the Dzar up to the challenge?

Texas Rangers @ Cleveland Indians

With the Texas Rangers successfully ruining the Cleveland Indians' hopes of winning 125 straight games to finish out the season last night, we move on to the second game in the series. The man tasked with getting the Tribe back on the winning track will be Danny Salazar, who is coming off of a dominate outing against the Chicago White Sox where he struck out eight batters in six innings and allowed only five hits and zero runs.

Because the Cleveland Indians starting rotation fun facts will never get old to me, it's also worth noting that Salazar currently has the highest strikeout rate and the highest strikeout-to-walk ratio of any qualified starting pitcher in the league.

Much like the Indians were coming into the game on Monday, the Rangers are on fire. Namely former first baseman turned designated hitter Prince Fielder who is in the midst of an insane month of May where he's put up a .392/.444/.701 slash line and eight home runs. His contribution to the win Monday afternoon was three hits, a home run, and a bit of sass on the bases.

Catcher Yan Gomes is once again back in the lineup and behind the plate after taking a rest day yesterday. And following the normal platoon splits, Michael Brantley finds himself in center field while Michael Bourn sits out against the lefty, Wandy Rodriguez. Taking Brantley's normal place in left field is Ryan Raburn.
