The Indians badly need to win a series, especially with them already being 6 games behind Detroit and 5.5 games against Kansas City. Tonight's pitching matchup (Corey Kluber vs. Jason Vargas) should give the Tribe a big advantage, but I'm finished with thinking a favorable pitching matchup means good things, especially when the mediocre opposing starter is a lefty.

Today's Lineups

KANSAS CITY ROYALS CLEVELAND INDIANS
Alcides Escobar - SS Jason Kipnis - 2B
Mike Moustakas - 3B Mike Aviles - 3B
Lorenzo Cain - CF Michael Brantley - LF
Eric Hosmer - 1B Carlos Santana - 1B
Kendrys Morales - DH Ryan Raburn - DH
Alex Gordon - LF Jerry Sands - RF
Salvador Perez - C Roberto Perez - C
Omar Infante - 2B Michael Bourn - CF
Jarrod Dyson - RF Jose Ramirez - SS
Jason Vargas - LHP Corey Kluber - RHP

I understand moving Bourn out of the leadoff spot, but it's not as though Kipnis/Aviles is an exciting combination at the top either. Frankly, Brantley/Santana/Raburn is the only stretch of that lineup that inspires any excitement in me right now.

Three Tribe affiliates are in action this evening. You can find those games here.
