Cleveland Indians narrowly avoided making history with poor home win/loss record in 2015

Was the Tribe able to fix their poor showings at home this season as the season progressed?

At the end of June, I posted about how poorly the Tribe had played in front of the meager home crowds during the early part of the 2015 season. Time for an update to see if there was any improvement on that record-shattering pace.

At the time of the original post, the Indians had a 15-23 record at home, or a lowly 0.395 winning percentage. The good news is, they played at home much, much better the rest of the way. After the post, they finished with a 24-18 record, a much more respectable 0.571 clip.

But, that finishing kick was not quite good enough to get them over 0.500 at home on the season. They finished at 39-41 (with one game rained out and not made up) or a 0.488 percentage at home. And after starting 1-9-3 (Win-Loss-Split) in series at home, they ended up 9-13-4 overall.

This is just the 27th time (out of 115) they have finished with a losing record at home. And this includes that 30-year sojourn into the darkness (with 10 of those seasons occurring in that timespan). The Tribe also finished 2015 with a winning record on the road, 42-39, meaning the difference between home and road was a negative 0.031, only the fifteenth time that has happened in club history.

Now back in June, they were on a record-shattering pace of -0.070, so they did bring that back down. This team now had the tenth worst differential in club history. This is also just the third time to have a positive overall winning percentage, but a losing one at home, joining 1947 and 1981.
