Series Preview

Today's Lineups

CHICAGO WHITE SOX CLEVELAND INDIANS
Adam Eaton - CF Tyler Holt - CF
Alexei Ramirez - SS Jose Ramirez - SS
Jose Abreu - DH Michael Brantley - LF
Avisail Garcia - RF Carlos Santana - 1B
Dayan Viciedo - 1B Yan Gomes - DH
Marcus Semien - 3B Ryan Raburn - RF
Michael Taylor - LF Lonnie Chisenhall - 3B
Tyler Flowers - C Zach Walters - 2B
Carlos Sanchez - 2B Roberto Perez - C
Chris Sale - LHP T.J. House - LHP

The White Sox have traded away several important players since last these two teams played, but Chris Sale is pitching and Jose Abreu is batting third in the lineup. Those two alone elevates just about any supporting cast into a difficult opponent.

After losing three out of four to Detroit, the Indians have very little margin of error from here on out. As play starts today, they are five games behind both Kansas City and Detroit in the division race, and five games behind KC/Detroit, with three other clubs ahead of them. In other words, they have to play almost flawless baseball from here on out and hope that most of the clubs ahead of them stumble to the finish.
