Cincinnati Reds @ Cleveland Indians
Wednesday, August 6, 2014, 7:10 ET, Great American Ballpark
TV: STO (CLE), FSO (CIN)
Radio: WTAM (CLE), WLW (CIN)
Technically this is the beginning of new two-game series between the Reds and Indians, but I prefer to think of it as the second half of a four-game, two-city series between the two Ohio clubs. The Reds and Indians traded blowout victories in Cleveland, which quite a bit out of character for the Reds, who have both one of the best pitching staffs in baseball and one of the worst offenses in baseball.
Danny Salazar, who has shown shades of last year's success in this stint in the rotation, on paper has a favorable matchup. Great American Ballpark Bandbox is one of the best offensive parks in the majors, but there aren't many in the Cincinnati lineup that can take advantage of the friendly dimensions and wind patterns. Salazar, even at his best, has been prone to give up home runs, so this game represents a three-way clash (goperitic pitcher, punchless lineup, launching pad park). Which extreme will show itself tonight? There's only one to find out.
