A new exclusive partnership between SB Nation and FanDuel should lead to a lot of fun for LGT readers, and could also lead to a lot of money for you. FanDuel is a daily fantasy sports site, at which more than $6 million a week is given out in prizes.
FanDuel has given each of SB Nation's baseball site managers a little money to play with. Last week 20-some of us played in an exclusive contest against one another, I spent 5-10 minutes putting my lineup together, took 7th place, and voila, more money for me! (Which is good, because my honeymoon fund is in need of a boost!)
The system for putting your lineup together was very easy to follow. The gist of it is, you've got a budget with which to fill out a starting lineup (one player per position) and each player has a cost (which changes each day, depending on how they've been doing, what they're matchup is, etc.).
Here's a one-minute tutorial video:
Like I said, it's easy.
There are free options too, if the competition sounds like fun, but putting up real money every day isn't your thing.
You can find the scoring system here, along with eligibility rules and that sort of thing (for example, residents of AZ, IA, LA, MT, and WA cannot play for real money, due to local laws).
I know not everyone is into fantasy baseball, but for those of you who are, I think you'll find that this is a lot of fun. It's the same rush of competition, without having to wait months for the final result. Each day is a new contest (a bunch of new contests, in fact), with new winners.
The goal is to get enough people for LGT using the site regularly that we can have private contests just for us, but in the meantime, we can take everyone else's money too!
Here is a link to register and get counted as one of us.
