Cleveland Indians vs. New York Yankees
Monday, July 7, 2014, 7:05 ET, Progressive Field
TV: STO (CLE), YES (NYY), ESPN
Radio: WTAM (CLE), WFAN (NYY), WADO (NYY)
This afternoon the Indians acquired Chris Dickerson, who will be filling in for the injured Michael Bourn. Dickerson is in the lineup tonight, hitting ninth. George Kottaras was designated for assignment to make room for Dickerson on the 25-man roster, and I'd expect Tyler Holt to go back to AAA to make room for a backup catcher (Roberto Perez?) tomorrow.
Tonight the Indians will be facing Shane Greene, who is making his first MLB start. He made his MLB debut in April, pitching just just a third of an inning against Boston. Needless to say, there isn't much tape of him available. His AAA numbers are rather pedestrian (66.2 IP, 4.59 ERA, 10.7 H/9, 7.7 SO/9), but in his last two starts with Scranton (13 innings) he didn't give up a run.
Before tonight's game the Indians will be honoring Mike Hegan, who died last December. Hegan grew up in the Cleveland area (he was the son of Indians catcher Jim Hegan), and spent his on-field career with the Yankees, Athletics, Pilots, and Brewers. He then spent 35 years calling games and TV and radio, the last 23 of them in Cleveland.
