Well, we suck again. Or maybe we only suck until we don't again? Who knows anymore. Here's some news to distract from thinking about it too much:

Yesterday's game: Red Sox 5, Indians 2

Poor defense, a shaky bullpen, and a brain-dead offense walked into a baseball stadium... stop me if you've heard this one before. Not much fun was had during this game.

Indians news & notes

Swisher trying to rediscover who he is | Cleveland.com - Now that Nick Swisher has returned to the lineup and Jason Giambi has been conveniently DL'd to make room, Swish has some soul searching to do. He says his swing feels good and he wants to pick up where he left off. Thing is, he left off playing terrible. Can he get back to his pre-2014 levels or is he done? Will he ever justify that contract? Is he human, or is he bro?

McAllister to make one more rehab start | Indians.com - Zach McAllister is recovering from a back injury and poised to return to the Tribe rotation, but not before at least one more rehab start in AAA. The Attach has put up an ugly line in his last four starts with the Tribe, but had a solid outing with Columbus on Tuesday and is hoping to continue the trend.

Chisenhall sat out Thursday night for funsies | Cleveland.com - Apparently, Terry Francona had no particular reasoning behind sitting Lonnie Chisenhall, who is sorta good. Mike Aviles, who is sorta bad, needed some at bats.

Tidbits from around MLB

Baseball's biggest over- and under-achievers | Fangraphs - A position-by-position breakdown of actual 2014 WAR so far versus projected WAR. No Indians positions on the list, but the Twins are listed as overachievers at second base due to Brian Dozier's solid season.

A's are actually underachieving | Sports On Earth - Speaking of underachievers... The Oakland A's are already the best team in the AL and are like, scary good. Thing is, they're actually underplaying their pythagorean by a significant margin. Sitting at a +130 run differential, they're seven wins behind the pythag projections. Nuts.

The Selling Process | Fangraphs - A really great inside baseball exmination of the process teams must work through when "selling" off assets at the trade deadline, from the determination of buyer vs. seller down to the completion of a deal.

Topps to produce cards with SABR stats | Beckett News - Stat geeks rejoice! Topps is producing idiot stat-free variants of some of its latest set.

The ten best outfielder throws on video | Sports On Earth - Exactly as the title says. Awesomeness.

Altuve leaves game with hand injury | CBS Sports - Astros 2B Jose Altuve left Thursday's game after being hit by a pitch. He's listed as day-to-day.
