Series Preview
So the offense erupted, the pitching was not-awful, Elliot Johnson was Designated for Assignment, and we learned that Josh Tomlin will be joining the rotation. So much good news!
The Tribe can continue the good feelings with a win tonight. Scott Carroll will be pitching for the White Sox, making just his second MLB appearance. The 29-year-old had been in the minors since 2007 before making his major-league debut earlier this week, so that's a pretty good story. Hopefully that's where the good story ends.
Going for the Indians is Justin Masterson, who has been rather underwhelming this season (although the dreadful defense has had a lot to do with that. The White Sox struggles to get a left-handed heavy lineup together, and tonight's lineup has only three left-handed hitters in it. That usually means good things for Masterson, assuming he stays in the strike zone.
With Yan Gomes on paternity leave, that means that Carlos Santana is going to be catching at least two of the next three games. George Kottaras has been summoned to take Gomes' roster spot, and perhaps he'll be staying after Gomes returns in order to remove the backup catching duty from Santana.
