BREAKING NEWS: John Axford has been removed as closer
-
Last we saw Erik Bedard, he was pitching for the Houston Astros seemingly playing out the string of his career. But because the Rays have had a rash of injuries to their pitching staff, Bedard is back in the majors. He's made 4 starts thus far, and has actually done all right. In his last two starts (New York, Boston, he's allowed a total of two earned runs in 11 innings pitched.
Because a left-hander is on the hill, the Indians are putting as many right-handers in the lineup as possible. Mike Aviles, whose three-run homer turned out to be the margin of victory last night, is in left field, and Jose Ramirez gets the start at second. The only left-handers in the lineup are Michael Brantley and David Murphy.
