Tribe News & Notes 4/29/14: Bauer making his case, position players pitching

At this point, would Bauer even be leaving the gutter?

Rob Tringali

It was another tough loss for the Tribe last night, their fourth in a row. Is this funk temporary? Can we fix it? Are we just bad? I can't answer any of those questions. I can offer some baseball links in an easily-digestible format, though:

Last night's game: Los Angeles del Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciúncula de Anaheim 6, Cleveland Indians 3

Yuck. What more can you say? At least Carlos Santana hit a homer.

Other Indians news

Bauer making his case for the big leagues | Did The Tribe Win Last Night? - Trevor Bauer had his third straight solid outing on Sunday, striking out seven and giving up only two runs in seven innings. He's been generally great this year, including in his one opportunity with the Indians.

Francona says Santana's "temporary amnesia" will pass | Cleveland.com - Tito made the case that he's being patient rather than stubborn re: Carlos Santana. Last night's game was a sign that his approach may have worked. Now what about the rest of these bums?

Chisenhall sees limited time against LHP | Indians.com - Even though he hasn't made an out against a lefty pitcher since last August, Lonnie Chisenhall has been held back from facing southpaws all this year. Terry Francona says he's trying to strike a delicate balance between letting Chiz play and giving Mike Aviles opportunities. Hard to argue with Chisenhall's results so far.

Klubot programmed to terminate Angels | Indians.com - Coming off a dominant 11K performance, Corey Kluber looks to ride the momentum into another victory against LA's Jered Weaver.

Al Rosen was one base away from Triple Crown | Did The Tribe Win Last Night? - A cool story for Tribe historians: Al Rosen missed the 1953 Triple Crown by one point of batting average thanks to a close play at first and some shady tactics by his competition.

Indians offering paid guarantee for giveaway items | Cleveland.com - Want to make sure you'll snag that spiffy Orel Hersheiser bobblehead without having to fight the other ten people at Progressive Field? It'll only cost you an extra $5.

Nats' Harper out until early July | ESPN - First it was a minor thumb sprain, but now Bryce Harper requires surgery to repair a torn ligament. Head-first slides are always dangerous. If only he would have played the game the right way.

Giants prospect the latest in Tommy John extravaganza | SF Chronicle - The twist here is that it's not a pitcher: top Giants hitting prospect Mac Williamson has a date with Dr. James Andrews today.

MLB record: ten starters go 7+ innings with fewer than 3 hits | CBS Sports - Sunday was a unique day for pitchers, including Ryan Voglesong against the Tribe, of course.

Desmond Jennings scores from second on sac fly, insane catch by Adam Eaton | MLB.com - Sorry, couldn't get the embed to work, but this is worth watching.
