With the 2014 season fast approaching, here is an update to the uniform-number statistics. Here is the synopsis of where each uniform number stands by number of players to have worn it for the Indians, total number of seasons it was worn for the team, and the total number of different times it was worn (counting shared numbers in a season). A brief description follows each table for each uniform number.
All numbers listed are through the 2013 season.
Today we cover uniforms 0 through 25:

The last player to wear #00 was Rick White in 2004. The last and only player to wear #0 was Junior Ortiz in 1993. These numbers are not currently being worn in spring training and would be available to anyone who wishes to move out of the 50 and higher crowd.
Uniform #1: This was worn by Ezequiel Carrera last season, is currently assigned to David Adams. If Adams gets a call-up this season, he would be the 31st player to wear it. Bobby Avila is the career leader with 10 seasons.
Uniform #2: This was last worn by Aaron Cunningham in 2012. The numbers will stay stagnant as third base coach Brad Mills will wear it for the second consecutive season. Einar Diaz is the career leader with 7 seasons.
Uniform #3: This was retired in honor of Hall of Famer Earl Averill in 1975. It was last worn by Woodie Held in 1962.
Uniform #4: This will still be worn by Mike Aviles for his second season. He is the 35th player to wear it. Jim Hegan is the career leader with 7 seasons.
Uniform #5: This was retired in honor of Hall of Famer Lou Boudreau in 1970. It was last worn by Buddy Booker in 1966.
Uniform #6: Lou Marson wore this one for his third season in 2013, tying him with three others. It is currently assigned to NRI Nyjer Morgan. If Morgan makes the roster with this number, he would be the 34th player to wear it. Joe Azcue and Joe Vosmik each wore it six times.
Uniform #7: John McDonald and Matt Carson each wore it in 2013, bringing the current total to 46. David Murphy has claimed it for 2014. Kenny Lofton is the career leader with 10 seasons.
Uniform #8: Lonnie Chisenhall will wear this one for the third straight year in 2014 which would tie him with Jason Michaels, Kenny Kuhn and Les Fleming. The career leader for this number is Albert Belle with 7 seasons.
Uniform #9: Ryan Raburn is the 41st player to wear it and he will wear it again this year. The career leader for this number is Carlos Baerga with 8 seasons.
Uniform #10: This was assigned to NRI Ben Francisco last spring, but when Yan Gomes was called up, he switched from #40. He became the 31st guy to wear it. Max Alvis is the career leader with 8 seasons.
Uniform #11: Drew Stubbs wore this last season in his only year in Cleveland. NRI Jeff Francoeur is currently assigned to it. If he gets called up this year and sticks with #11, he would be the 43rd to wear it. Art Houtteman, Frankie Pytlak and Toby Harrah all share the career lead with 5 seasons.
Uniform #12: Mark Reynolds and then Jason Kubel donned this uniform last season.NRI Matt Treanor has the honor of it this spring. If he gets a call-up, he would become the 48th to wear it. The career leader for this number is Willis Hudlin with 11 seasons.
Uniform #13: Asdrubal Cabrera returns for his 8th season in #13. He now sits alone in second place to Omar Vizquel, who has eleven years in it. With Lindor on the horizon, the odds of Droobs catching Omar are very slim.
Uniform #14 was retired in honor of Hall of Famer Larry Doby in 1994. It was last worn by Jerry Browne in 1991.
Uniform #15: this was last worn as a player by Andy Marte and Wyatt Toregas in 2009. The numbers will not increase for this uniform this year as bench coach and former catching standout Sandy Alomar is wearing his old number from his playing days. He is also the career leader with 11 seasons in #15.
Uniform #16: Like #15, this one will not increase either as first base coach Mike Sarbaugh wears it for his second season. It was last worn by Jason Donald in 2012. Larry Brown is the career leader with 9 seasons.
Uniform #17: And again, like #15 and #16, this one is not assigned to a player, but to skipper Terry Francona, who returns for his second season. It was last worn as a player by Shin-Soo Choo in 2012, who is also the career leader with 6 seasons.
Uniform #18: This was retired in honor of Mel Harder in 1990. It was last worn as a player by Chris James in 1990.
Uniform #19: This was retired in honor of Hall of Famer "Rapid Robert" Bob Feller in 1957. It was never worn again after he retired following the 1956 season. Only five other players ever wore it prior to Feller assuming it in 1939.
Uniform #20: When Chen-Chang (CC) Lee was called up last season, he became the 49th guy to don it. He is also assigned to it for this season. He wore #75 last spring The career leader for this number is Al Milnar with 6 seasons.
Uniform #21 was retired in honor of Hall of Famer Bob Lemon in 1998. It was last worn as a player by Greg Swindell in 1998.
Uniform #22: Jason Kipnis will make his 4th straight season wearing the double deuce. He is the 51st player to wear it. He will be tied for second place all-time with Cal McLish. Next year he would catch leaders Mike Fischlin and Roy Weatherly.
Uniform #23: Michael Brantley makes his 6th straight appearance in this number. This also places him in second place, tied with Chuck Hinton. He will need two more seasons to catch career leader Chris Bando.
Uniform #24: Michael Bourn will make his second appearance in #24 this year. He is the 36th to wear it and joins five others with two seasons. Early Wynn is the career leader with nine seasons.
Uniform #25: Jason Giambi became the 29th to wear this number last season. He is also assigned to it this year, albeit as a NRI. Jim Thome leads this number with 12 seasons and I expect it to be retired in the near future, especially with the statue going up this year.
