Indians news: Michael Bourn leaves Sunday's game with strained left hamstring

Center fielder Michael Bourn left this afternoon's Cactus League game against the Giants early, with what the team has described as "mild" left hamstring tightness. He will be reevaluated tomorrow, so we'll have to wait to find out anything more about this.

This is the same hamstring that bothered Bourn near the end of last season; he had surgery on it in October. We've got to hope this really was just a precautionary move, that it tightened up on him this afternoon, but feels fine in the morning. Bourn used his speed to become one of the best players in baseball in recent years, leading the league in steals three times and winning a pair of Gold Gloves. After the Indians signed him to a 4-year deal last offseason though, his production dropped quite a bit. He had the lowest stolen-base total and weakest success rate of any of his six full seasons. The hope has been that the operation and more experience in the American League would help his numbers rebound in 2014, but this puts at least a temporary damper on that notion.
