A day after losing for the first time in almost two weeks, the Indians got back to winning Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Diamondbacks 7-1 in Scottsdale. Justin Masterson started for the Tribe, and provided 4 shutout innings as he slowly works up his stamina in anticipation of an Opening Day start in under three weeks (YES!).
After a 1-2-3 1st inning, Masterson hit the leadoff manin the 2nd. With one out and the man having advanced to second, Jeff Francoeur made a nice catch in deep right, and doubled the runner off to end the inning. Masterson started the 3rd the same way, with LGFT Shelley Duncan on the receiving end of the HBP this time. Once again, a teammate helped Masterson out, as Yan Gomes nailed Shelley Duncan on an attempted steal. In the 4th it was a leadoff walk, but for the second time in three innings, Jeff Francoeur eliminated a base runner, this time throwing behind a runner who'd strayed too far from first base.
It's hard to be critical of an outing in which Masterson didn't allow a single hit or run, but his command didn't seem to be there, and it's rare that a pitcher will put the leadoff man on base three innings in a row without it coming back to bite him.
Cody Allen entered for the 5th, and struck out the side... but allowed two hits, a walk, and a runa long the way. Four other relievers each worked a scoreless inning after that.

On the offensive side of things, Lonnie Chisenhall led the way, with his first AB ending like this:
Lonnie added a single later in the game. Michael Bourn, Asdrubal Cabrera, and Yan Gomes also each had a pair of hits.
The Indians will host the Padres tomorrow afternoon back at Goodyear Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 ET.
