Let's Talk Tribe - Ep. 17: Grantland's Jonah Keri talks Indians and Expos

45 minutes talking with maybe my favorite baseball writer. Not a bad way to bring Let's Talk Tribe back from its offseason hiatus...

After taking much of the offseason off, the Let's Talk Tribe is back! For the podcast's triumphant return I spoke with Jonah Keri, one of the very best baseball writers out there. He's Grantland's lead baseball writer (his latest column, on baseball's worst contracts is here) and the author of two books, including Up, Up, and Away, a history of the Montreal Expos that will be released on March 25.

Topics include stories about how the new book came together and some of his favorite interviews from the process; 1994, when the Indians and Expos were both having great seasons that the labor stoppage washed away; the Bartolo Colon trade that brought Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee, and Brandon Phillips to Cleveland; what it was like as an Expos fan to have the team killed off; and how the Tribe and other AL teams have done this offseason.

At one point Jonah mentions Prince Fielder belly-flopping in the ALCS last year, and I let out a cackle. Good times!

Sadly, we ran out of time before discussing our shared love for The Simpsons, efficient starting pitching, and The Hudsucker Proxy. Maybe next time.
