Michael Brantley a finalist for AL MVP; Corey Kluber a finalist for AL Cy Young

A good day for Tribe fans...

Jason Miller

Tuesday night the BBWAA announced finalists for its major awards, and the Indians are well represented, with Michael Brantley among the candidates for American League MVP, and Corey Kluber among the candidates for the AL Cy Young.

Here are the finalists in each category...

Rookie of the Year (winners announced Monday, November 10):

  • AL: Jose Abreu, Dellin Betances, Matt Shoemaker
  • NL: Jacob deGrom, Billy Hamilton, Kolten Wong

Manager of the Year (winners announced Tuesday, November 11):

  • AL: Mike Scioscia, Buck Showalter, Ned Yost
  • NL: Bruce Bochy, Clint Hurdle, Matt Williams

Cy Young (winners announced Wednesday, November 12):

  • AL: Felix Hernandez, Corey Kluber, Chris Sale
  • NL: Johnny Cueto, Clayton Kershaw, Adam Wainwright

MVP (winners announced Thursday, November 13):

  • AL: Michael Brantley, Victor Martinez, Mike Trout
  • NL: Clayton Kershaw, Andrew McCutchen, Giancarlo Stanton

I expect Felix Hernandez to win the AL Cy Young, though as I've already written, Kluber deserves to win it. I expect Mike Trout to win AL MVP, and (for the third year in a row), I think he deserves it. It would obviously be awesome to see one of these two Indians win, but even having them among the top three is pretty fantastic.
