Giants beat Royals 7-1 in Game 1 of the World Series

"Big Game" James Shields might have just meant he would pitch in big games—not that he would pitch well in them.

The Royals finally lost a postseason game yesterday. The Giants beat them 7–1 behind the great pitching of Madison Bumgarner. Bumgarner went 7 innings, giving up just 1 run on 3 hits. The home run he gave up in the 7th ended his World Series scoreless streak at 22 innings. The Royals sky-high postseason BABiP took a large hit after being held to a .111 mark today by Bumgarner, who may have found the secrets to reversing KC's luck: grunts and snot rockets.

For the Royals, "Big Game James Shields" was on the mound and once again failed to live up to that name. He gave up 5 runs in 3 innings, which included 7 hits that not even the Royals defense could save. Speaking of that Royals defense, it was closer to the 2014 Indians defense than it was to KC's ALCS defense. They were only charged with 1 error but there was also a ball hit to RF that Nori Aoki played into a triple.

After Shields exited, the Royals went to Danny Duffy who was good after walking in a run. But then they went to a guy whose appearance usually means good things for Indians fans: Tiny Timmy Collins. TTC allowed the inherited runner to score.

• Our very own Nick Swisher was on the FOX World Series coverage. Where can we start a petition to keep him there next season? Make him love it so much that he gives up his contract Gil Meche-style. One problem with this: Swisher may not always say what he means to say:
