September 4 News and Notes

The bullpen has expanded again. If Tito gets his way, it will reach 20 men by season's end.

Ubaldo Jimenez is willing to return to Cleveland. He is also willing to return to Colorado, I'd bet. And he'd probably play for the Marlins, too—if they pay him enough.

  • Jimenez and Scott Kazmir are willing to return to Cleveland next year. Unless they are beaten daily in the clubhouse, I don't see why this is news. Of course they'd consider a return if we pay them competitively.
  • The Indians further added to their bullpen yesterday, calling up CC Lee, Vinnie Pestano, Josh Tomlin and Carlos Carrasco. IMO, Tomlin should start, though. Even if it's just for 2 or 3 innings so that Carrasco can do what he apparently does best: relieve.
  • Buehrle has 11, 179, 28 so far this season. The streak dates back to 2001(!); I was in middle school.
  • WHAT MORE DOES JORDAN BROWN HAVE TO DO?
  • Jason Kubel was intentionally walked twice yesterday by Buck Showalter. It was the first time in Kubel's career that anybody was this terrified of him.
  • I have no comment on Chris Perez.
