MLB Transactions: Zach McAllister placed on Disabled List, Carlos Carrasco recalled

Well, this was unexpected.

Indians have placed RHP Zach McAllister on the 15-day DL with a right middle finger strain. RHP Carlos Carrasco backup, will start today.

Carrasco's 8-game suspension is still under appeal, so he'll be able to make today's start. And after today, he'll drop the appeal, serving his suspension. Because of the off-day on Thursday, the Indians will be able to get away with having only 4 active starters in the rotation because McAllister's DL stint is retroactive to May 3rd. Here's the rotation schedule:

• June 9th: Justin Masterson (Suspension Day 1)
