2008
Brad Grant's first draft. The Indians had pick #29 in each round and no sandwich picks, so it was a difficult year to break in.

Others of Note
- 11 - RHP Matt Langwell - currently on 25-man roster (career WAR = 0.0)
- 13 - 3B Adam Abraham - minor-league utility man
- 14 - RHP Carlos Moncrief - converted to outfield, still considered a prospect
- 16 - LHP TJ House - high school pick paid $750,000 to skip college - On 40-man roster
- 22 - RHP Bryce Stowell - minor-league reliever, could reach majors
- 27 - RHP Michael Goodnight - minor-league reliever
- 33 - C Roberto Perez - catching prospect
The Indians will probably get one regular (Chisenhall) from this draft, although House and Moncrief still have the potential to become starters at the major-league level.
Phelps and Fedroff could become bench players, and Haley and Stowell could be major-league relievers. Langwell is currently in the Cleveland bullpen, though I'm not sure that has much of a future. Roberto Perez is a good defensive catcher, and has a good eye at the plate, so I could see him being a backup catcher.

Others of Note:
- 12 - RHP Joseph Colon
- 15 - LHP Mike Rayl - the Indians paid him $125,000 to forgo college. Currently on the Akron DL
- 27 - RHP Tyler Sturdevant - Current on the Columbus DL
- 32 - LHP Matt Packer - has stalled between AA and AAA
- 48 - LHP Vidal Nuno - released by Indians after getting to Lake County, has made majors with Yankees
The Indians hit with their top two selections, with White being a major part of the package that landed Ubaldo Jimenez, and Kipnis becoming the first drafted and developed regular in quite some time. Austin Adams could have a future in the bullpen, even after shoulder surgery. Preston Guilmet will probably see some innings in Cleveland this season. It looks like Alex White's three starts in 2011 will be the only starts made by an Indians pitcher from this draft.

It's way too early to make any conclusions about this draft. Drew Pomeranz was one of the better pitching prospects in baseball when he was dealt to Colorado, and although he hasn't stuck in the major-league rotation, he's still only 24. LeVon Washington, when he's been healthy, has shown flashes of brilliance, but hasn't been healthy much. Tony Wolters is transitioning from second base to catcher, and if he can do it, he'll be an outstanding prospect. Kyle Blair and Nick Bartolone have been busts. Local product Alex Lavisky, who the Indians paid $1,000,000 to forgo a baseball scholarship at Georgia Tech, is currently in Akron but hasn't really hit yet. Tyler Holt has gotten rave reviews for his defense, but will he hit?
