Permanent Prospect That Matters post
PTM Update
Stats are either major-league stats (if the player is presently in the majors) or overall minor-league stats (if the player is presently in the minors). Rule 5 picks TJ McFarland and Hector Rondon's major-league stats are with Baltimore and Chicago (NL), respectively.
Position Players

19 | SS Francisco Lindor | A+ | 144 | .346/.407/.488 | .895 | 7 | 1 | 14 | 12 |
20 | CF Luigi Rodriguez | A+/A- | 130 | .276/.341/.362 | .703 | 2 | 1 | 11 | 5 |
18 | SS Dorssys Paulino | A- | 111 | .208/.279/.218 | .497 | 1 | 0 | 21 | 10 |
The upper-level shortstops (Juan Diaz and Ronny Rodriguez) continue to struggle, while Francisco Lindor continues to impress as a teenager in the Carolina League. Giovanny Urshela, who is only 21, is holding his own in the Eastern, not a small feat. Tony Wolters was sent back to Extended Spring to work on catching. Luigi Rodriguez reecently got promoted to Carolina after LeVon Washington was activated off Lake County's DL, and is starting off well. Dorssys Paulino is struggling in his first full-season experience.

19 | SP Mitch Brown (DL) |
A- | 15.2 | 5 | 11.49 | 12.1 | 10.3 | 6.3 |
For the most part, the pitchers are doing well. Cody Allen is working his way up the ladder in Cleveland, while both TJ House and Danny Salazar got promotions to Columbus, both of them well-deserved. Trey Haley hasn't given up a run yet in Akron. However, three of the pitchers on this list are injured (Giovanni Soto, Shawn Armstrong, and Mitch Brown). Both Rule 5 selections seem to be in no danger of being returned; Hector Rondon is on a club with no pretensions of contention, while TJ McFarland has become an important part of Baltimore's bullpen.
Prospects That Might Matter Update
I'll be revisiting the PTM list at the end of May, when there's enough of a 2013 sample to make any kind of judgment. But until then, here's a list of the prospects not currently a PTM who meets the age criteria, along with some prospects that are producing but need a promotion to make the list (in italics):
Columbus (25 and younger)
- C Chris Wallace (Age 25) 17 PA, .375/.412/.563
- OF Cedric Hunter (Age 25) 93 PA, .244/.301/.360
- RHP Preston Guilmet (Age 25) 15.0 IP, 2.40 ERA
- RHP Rob Bryson (Age 25) 13.0 IP, 5.54 ERA
Akron (23 and younger)
- C Jake Lowery (Age 22) 11 PA, .400/.455/.600

- RHP Cody Anderson (Age 22) 40.0 IP, 2.92 ERA

Lake County (Age 19 or younger)
- RF Anthony Santander (Age 18) 23 PA, .286/.348/.681
- 1B Nelson Rodriguez (Age 19) 125 PA, .194/.328/.252
- 3B Leonardo Castillo (Age 19) 78 PA, .236/.295/.417
- 2B Claudio Baustista (Age 19) 6 PA, .167/.167/.167
- C Eric Haase (Age 20) 103 PA, .260/.301/.469
- CF LeVon Washington (Age 21) 46 PA, .342/.457/.500
- RHP Jake Sisco (Age 21) 27.2 IP, 2.28 ERA
- RHP Michael Peoples (Age 21) 18.1 IP, 1.96 ERA
- LHP Ryan Merritt (Age 21) 31.0 IP, 3.19 ERA
- RHP Dylan Baker (Age 21) 26.0 IP, 3.81 ERA
Preston Guilmet would probably be the only player I'd add to the PTM list if I had to make the update today, though Anthony Santander is another 3 good weeks away from joining him. Both LeVon Washington and Chun Chen would be cinches had they been playing one level higher, and Cody Anderson would be extremely close had he been putting up those numbers in Akron rather than Carolina.
