Cleveland Indians 9, Chicago White Sox 4: Zach McAllister and Mark Reynolds power the win

New, 31 comments

Someone other than Justin Masterson pitched well, and the offense jumped on yet another of last year's best pitchers.

Mark Reynolds can hit baseballs a long way.

...And just like that, the Indians are back at .500.

  • Of the eight runs Chris Sale allowed today, all eight were driven home by right-handed hitters (though one of them came home after he left the game). And all of those hitters were acquired over the winter. Nick Swisher hit a two-run homer in the first, Mark Reynolds drove home a run with a single in the third and four more runs with when he bombed a grand slam in the fifth.
  • The Indians are making a habit of shellacking good pitchers from a season ago. They already beat R.A, Dickey and David Price, and today they beat Chris Sale, who got some Cy Young votes last year.
  • If Carlos Carrasco had hit Kevin Youkilis on the backside, would he have been thrown out of the game and suspended?
