In case you missed all the roster juggling yesterday to finalize the Opening Day roster, here are the summaries:
Opening Roster Finalized| indians.com: News: Details of roster moves, including Kazmir winning fifth spot, Hagadone and Shaw in the pen, and other notes from beat writer Jordan Bastian.
Cleveland Indians' 25-man roster includes No. 5 starter Scott Kazmir | cleveland.com: Hoynsie runs down all the roster moves.
Cleveland Indians pick Scott Kazmir as No. 5 starter: USA Today weighs in on the Scott Kazmir story
Indians designate Ezequiel Carrera for assignment - MLB Daily Dish: The Cleveland Indians have designated outfielder Ezequiel Carrera for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for designated hitter Jason Giambi. I have a hard time imagining that an outfield-starved team (Yankees? Mets? Phillies?) won't offer the Indians something to get Zeke as a fourth outfielder.
Chris McGuiness to be offered back to Texas - Lone Star Ball: Chris McGuiness, selected from the Rangers by the Indians in the Rule 5 Draft, will not be on the Indians' Opening Day roster. By rule, the Tribe must offer him up on waivers, and if he clears, must offer him to Texas. At that point, Texas can claim him back for a fee, or work out a deal for the Tribe to keep him.
And now, on the field:
Tribe pitching struggles in matchup with Rockies | indians.com: News: The Indians were thankful that it's still Spring Training after Monday night's 18-4 loss to the Rockies.
And finally, some more off the field news:
Lonnie Chisenhall seizes third-base job with hot spring: Terry Pluto | cleveland.com: Lonnie Chisenhall justified being given the third-base job by hitting over .400 this spring for the Cleveland Indians.
Cleveland Indians home opener will crowd out regular parking garage patrons: Michael K. McIntyre's Tipoff | cleveland.com: People who pay a monthly fee to park at the Gateway East garage are getting kicked out April 8 to make way for Tribe fans during the Indians Home Opener.
Cleveland National Air Show canceled for 2013 because of federal budget cuts | cleveland.com: The Cleveland International Air Show, an annual Labor Day event at Burke Lakefront Airport, has been canceled because of federal budget cuts from the "sequester." If you've ever been in Cleveland to watch the Tribe during the air show, you understand what a big loss this is for both Cleveland and the Tribe.
Orioles trade for LGFT reliever Asencio - baltimoresun.com: Jairo Asencio who played for Cubs and Indians in 2012, will go to Triple-A Norfolk. For those of you who are completists. Also, their bullpen situation may affect whether the O's decide to keep TJ McFarland or offer him back to the Tribe, so keep an eye on Baltimore's pitching as they finalize their roster.
Campbell to dedicate Jim Perry Stadium against Duke: For all you old-timers, LGFT Jim Perry has a stadium named after him at alma mater Campbell University (home of the Camels).
