I have to begin by thanking Ryan for this opportunity. That he would ask me to step into this position is an honor I am enormously grateful for, one I intend to work very hard to live up to. One of the first questions I asked Ryan when we discussed the possibility of me taking over this position, was whether he intended to stay on board as a writer or not. Knowing that he would still be here, both as a guide and sounding board for me, and as a contributor for the site, made a big difference for me.
It was little more than a year ago that I joined the staff at Let's Go Tribe. I'd been a semi-regular reader before then, but certainly not a core member of the community, and so it feels sort of strange to be in charge, when I still haven't gotten caught up on some of the inside jokes (and in all likelihood, never will). I'm proud of my body of work here over that time, and I hope I've earned enough standing for the community to accept me in this role.
That said, I have been writing here for over a year, so I don't think I need to go into a longwinded introduction. If you want to grill me on any of the hot-button Tribe issues, feel free to fire away in the comments, but I'm probably already on record for most of them.
I suppose there ought to be a couple big changes to announce, but really, there aren't. This is the best Indians site there is, and you don't fix what isn't broken. We'll continue to provide interesting links most mornings, to keep you up to speed on transactions, to cover the minor leagues as best we can without an actual scout on staff (though if you know anyone...), to provide analysis on potential moves and insight on breaking news. I've something of a weak spot for lists (you may or may not --probably not-- recall my series on the top hitters from each spot in the batting order last offseason), so things like that might pop up a bit more often, and you can probably expect a bit less Shakespeare in the game recaps, and a bit more Star Wars, and I'm sure there will be some new recurring features over time, but my intent is that the feel of the site not be all that different.
One change I do plan to implement fairly soon is to add a couple more writers to the front page. Everyone currently on board is great, but we all have other responsibilities too, and there's a lot to cover, even during the offseason. I'll post something about this more formally next week, but feel free to reach out to me via email (my address can be found here) if you're interested in being a part of things.
I was going to leave you with a quote from my avatar, but it turns out Boba Fett only had like three lines, and none of them are particularly apt.
