Monday news and notes: LCS thoughts and an Indians prospect hitting well

At Sports On Earth, Amanda Rykoff looks at where members of this year's Dodgers were 25 years ago, when the team last won the World Series. Yasiel Puig and Vin Scully are both featured, though they were in very different places.

At FanGraphs, David Temple looks at a resurgence of young postseason starting pitchers. Over a third of the starting pitchers in these playoffs have been 25 or younger, and they've mostly done quite well. Maybe we can put the "you've gotta have experience to do well in the playoffs" narrative to rest.

Nick Cafardo reports Chris Carpenter will announce his retirement at the end of the season. Carpenter, the 2005 NL Cy Young winner, has pitched in just 3 games during the last two years, and will end his career with a 3.76 ERA in 2219.1 innings.

In a small bit of Tribe news, per IBI's Tony Lastoria, Indians prospect Jesus Aguilar is off to a great start in the Venezuelan Winter League.
