HOF Voting: No One Tops 75%, Lofton Drops Off Ballot

New, 80 comments

As feared, no one appeared on 75% of the Hall of Fame Ballots, so for the first time since 1996, there will be no player inducted from the BBWAA ballot. Craig Biggio came the closest to induction, appearing on 68.1% of ballots.

In addition, both Kenny Lofton and Bernie Williams will not appear on next year's ballot, as neither appeared on 5% of the ballots. LGFT Sandy Alomar received 16 votes (!), just two shy of Lofton. I don't know if the Hall of Fame can let the BBWAA take several years to sort this out among themselves, because most of the Hall's revenue comes from the induction ceremony each year.
