Yesterday's Action:
The Indians' staff one-hit the Reds to finish up their opening "series" with the Reds. Zach McAllister and Daisuke Matsuzaka, each making their spring debut, each pitched two innings. Cody Allen threw a perfect inning after Matsuzaka left. Rich Hill allowed three base runners in the sixth, and couldn't get out of the inning.
The scoring was done after the major-leaguers had been pulled from the game. Omir Santos hit a wind-aided two-run double in the seventh, and Carlos Moncrief followed with another double to plate another run.
After Carlos Carrasco struggled, the rest of the pitchers shut down the Brewers the rest of the way. Most of the pitchers that followed Carrasco are fighting for jobs, so perhaps they were much more aggressive than a pitcher assure of a job would have been.Scott Kazmir, David Huff, and Trevor Bauer threw two innings apiece of shutout ball, while Danny Salazar (added to 40-man roster this winter) and Nick Hagadone finished things up with a shutout inning each.
Carlos Santana hit his first homer of the spring, and the Indians drew 8 walks.
