Former Cleveland Browns owner Art Modell, 87, dies in Baltimore | cleveland.com
Art Modell is (in)famous for his time as owner of the Browns, but he was also the Indians' landlord from 1973 through 1994 when Jacobs Field (now Progressive Field) opened. Modell refused to share suite revenue with the Indians and his intransigence in dealing with the Indians had a great deal to do with the Indians generating public support for what became the Gateway Project (which Modell refused to participate in).
