Indians Minor League Recap: June 17, 2012

Columbus 5, Louisville 4

Columbus rallied from a four-run deficit before winning the game in the bottom of the 10th. Corey Kluber pitched a workman-like eight innings, before giving way to two innings of scoreless relief from Cody Allen. Chad Huffman's 3-run HR (#6) got the Clippers rally started.

Akron 3, Harrisburg 2

T.J. House pitched seven strong innings (6H, 2R, 0BB, 4K), followed by scoreless innings from Shawn Armstrong (who has transitioned to Akron seamlessly) and Preston Guilmet. Adam Abraham's solo-HR (#10) was the difference in the game.

Carolina 7, Winston-Salem 6

Tony Wolters went 4-5 and Ronny Rodriguez went 2-4 with a double, helping to lift the Mudcats to victory. Wolters has been hitting .400/.431/.582 since the start of July, recovering well from an abysmal April to start his season (.130/.231/.159).

Lake County: Off

Mahoning Valley 7, State College 3

Joe Wendle (2-4, 2B) and Charlie Valerio (2-4, HR#3) continued to lead the Scrappers offense. Ryan Merritt recovered from a rough outing in Lowell his last time out with a strong 7-inning performance (4H, 1R, 1BB, 5K), including 11 ground ball outs.

AZL Indians 7, AZL Dodgers 4

Dillon Howard once again had a rough start, going 3.1 innings and allowing four runs. In relief, Trey Haley continued his rehab with good results, striking out four in two scoreless innings. Jorge Martinez continues to hit, going 2-5 and lowering his average to .415.
