In one respect, the Indians did lose out because the White Sox upgraded third base by adding Youkilis, and without giving up up much in the process. Youkilis would not have been an upgrade over the current third base platoon of Jack Hannahan and Lonnie Chisenhall unless a change of scenery would have meant a return to the 2008-2010 Youkilis. Had he been traded to the Indians, he would have been playing first base and DHing, not playing third base.
