Minor League Recap: June 22, 2012

Lehigh Valley 9, Columbus 4
First things first: Jason Donald did not walk.

Chris Schwinden got lit up for 7 runs in 4 innings, and Dan Wheeler gave up two runs in an inning of work. Russ Canzler went 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk.

Akron 4, Altoona 3
Steve Wright allowed three runs on four hits; the knuckleballer struck out seven and walked three. Tyler Sturdevant pitched a scoreless inning in his 2012 debut with the Aeros; he was promoted from Carolina before the game.

Also making his debut for the Aeros was Jeremie Tice, who had been hitting .280/.370/.580 with Carolina. The 25-year-old was drafted by the Indians in the 6th round of the 2008 draft. This is the first time that Tice has been at the AA level.To make room for Tice, the Indians released OF Ben Copeland.

Carolina's game with Wilmington was rained out. It will made up today as part of a doubleheader

Fort Wayne 4, Lake County 3
Luigi Rodriguez went 4-for-5 with a home run and a double, and Alex Monsalve chipped in with two doubles.

State College 4, Mahoning Valley 0
Tyler Naquin went 0-for-4 in his second professional game. Charlie Valerio was the only Scrapper with multiple hits (2).

The AZL Indians were off.
