Minor League Recap: June 17, 2012

Columbus 6, Gwinnett 2


Zach McAllister allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings, and the Columbus bullpen, including Scott Barnes, kept the Braves scoreless the rest of the ray. Cord Phelps went deep with his 7th home run. and Jason Donald went 2-for-3 with a walk. Those two will at the very least be included in any trade talk the Indians have between now the July 31 deadline.

Reading 4, Akron 2


Knuckler Steven Wright, who was mentioned yesterday, struck out 7 but allowed four runs (3 earned) in six innings of work. Nick Weglarz had a double, the only extra-base hit of the day for the Aeros.

Carolina 14, Salem 8


The Mudcats scored 10 runs in the 8th inning to come from behind to beat Salem. Ronny Rodriguez had a career day, going 5-for-5 with a double. Two Mudcats (Giovanny Urshela and Jesus Aguilar) had three hits, and three more (Tyler Holt, Carlos Moncrief, and Jake Lowery) had two hits. Michael Goodnight got the start, and was shelled, largely due to control issues (6 walks, 0 strikeouts).

Dayton 5, Lake County 3


The Dragons scored two in the ninth off Cole Cook to take the lead and ultimately win the game. Alex Monsalve and Alex Laviskey both hit homers for the Captains.

Columbus: Released RHP Hector Ambriz

Ambriz had been in the Tribe bullpen in 2010, but missed the entire 2011 season with Tommy John surgery.
