Game 64: Pirates 9, Indians 2

It was Home Run Derby today, with six homers hit between both clubs. Unfortunately, four of them came via a Pittsburgh Pirate bat.

The two Indians runs came on solo homers, one by Asdrubal Cabrera in the first, the other by Casey Kotchman in the sixth. The Indians had other opportunities to score, but went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position on the day.

Meanwhile the Pirates' heretofore moribund offense came to life. Pittsburgh tied the game with a Pedro Alvarez homer in the second, and took the lead on a Garrett Jones single the next inning. Kotchman's homer re-tied the score in the fifth, but that tie would be short-lived, for Casey McGehee blasted a two-run homer off Jimenez in the sixth, and the Pirates would then go off on the Tribe bullpen.

With the Indians down two runs, Manny Acta brought in Tony Sipp to start the seventh. He allowed another homer, this coming off the bat of left-handed hitting Alex Presley. Nick Hagadone then let things get completely out of hand by giving up four runs in the top of the ninth, including the fourth Pirate homer on the day, a two-run blast by Pedro Alvarez, his second on the day.
