Choo's now been out for four games with a hamstring injury, but at this point in the season, it's better to make sure there's no chance of a setback. Aaron Cunningham has been surprisingly decent at the plate as Choo's replacement, going 5-for-15 (four singles, 1 double) over the last four days. With an off-day on Monday, the Indians might as well sit him today just to make sure the hamstring is healthy.

The good news is that it Perez's injury wasn't to his arm, but he will miss up to six weeks. When a pitcher loses velocity like Perez did, you fear the worst, so while a lat injury is a serious injury for a pitcher, it's not nearly as serious as an elbow or shoulder injury would.
Perez's injury gives Nick Hagadone an extended opportunity to earn a recurring spot in the bullpen. Tony Sipp will remain the featured late-inning left-hander, though if Hagadone continues to be effective, Sipp and Hagadone could eventually be interchangeable.
Paul Hoynes juxtaposes the news that Michael Pineda is out for the year with torn labrum in his pitching shoulder with the injury problems of the two pitchers the Indians received in the Cliff Lee trade. Carlos Carrasco, who seemed to be turning into at least a solid starting pitcher, had Tommy John surgery late last season, while Jason Knapp is still trying to come back from a shoulder surgery last season, his second surgery since coming to the organization. Carlos Carrasco should be good to go next season, but it looks like Knapp's career may be over.
