It was a good day for pitching, and it showed in the final score. The start of the game was delayed two hours because of a constant rain, and even when conditions were ready for play, they weren't comfortable; it was a cool 40 degrees at game time, and it rained from time to time. Those that braved the brutal conditions to see the game through to its end were a select few.
This was a game much like the one Friday night, though there were some differences. First of all, unlike Jared Weaver, Dan Haren was a lot more economical with his pitch count, so the Indians didn't face the Angels' setup corps. It was Haren for eighth, then closer Scott Downs for the ninth.
Jeanmar Gomez, like Justin Masterson the day before, allowed two runs fairly early in the game, and get kept his team in it after falling behind. Torii Hunter again hit a solo homer, his second both in the series and the season.Nick Hagadone made his first appearance after his recent recall, and pitched another solid inning, striking out one and retiring the Angels in order.
